CONSCIOUS SELF-MASTERY: 21st Century Alchemy
Welcome to CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY, the art of modulating your own psychophysical chemistry for increased quality of life. Do you ever feel like you live in the Bizarro Universe, where everything seems totally backward? You try and try, but can't seem to get where you would like to be. Somehow, it seems the 'bad guys' thrive yet you can't make any consistent progress with your life. Or, maybe you would just like to enhance the success you have achieved even more.
WHAT'S THE MATTER? We need to learn the art of living well, instead of living better. This means alignment of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual lives. We can root out the disturbances of the past and transform them into assets, or strengths. We can remove the incongruencies of conflicting agendas in our belief systems and their fallout - our feelings. When we change our attitudes about ourselves and our past, we initiate a cascade of neurological changes that cover all four domains of our being. We can cultivate deeper awareness. The mind can change what "matters".
ANCIENT/FUTURE METASYN: We can take responsibility for our bodies and health, reclaiming our inherent shamanic, yogic and psychosomatic self-healing power. This alone changes our compassionate spiritual relationship to self, others, and universe. The old-yet-new healing paradigm includes non-material but highly-effective shamanic, psychic and spiritual tech that can be applied effectively in any cultural context. Mind is more than a powerless prisoner of the body. It has the power of focus, committed attention and intentionality. Take responsibility for you own healing and well-being, of your own life, the self-organizing power of your own hyperdimensional organism.
CHANGE N A HEARTBEAT: The average heart beats 2 billion times and you can change utterly in any one of them. Reclaim your innate capacity for changing the cellular, subatomic, and psychophysical processes of your energy body. WHAT you THINK and the excitation level of your overall system changes your chemistry, markedly. We are fluid fields, through which energy and matter dynamically flow and change. Lifestyle, diet, emotional state and consciousness play a huge role in health and disease. We can catalyze our psychophysical homeostasis and spontaneous healing processes, complementing any traditional care we may require.
SELF-IMPROVEMENT: Who says Life is Fair? If there is no Justice, maybe, there is JUST US. Directed self-motivation is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and it can be learned. YOU HAVE THE POWER - the power to focus your attention where it will do the most good, the power to create instantaneous change in your moods, attitudes, and feelings. Through subtle, disciplined techniques you can do it by connecting with the creative Source. CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY means changing the psychological Lead of your unrefined personality into the Gold of creative self-fulfillment. Every day is a Vision Quest.
NEW SELF-IMAGE
Is pain, grief, depression, fear, anxiety, guilt, relationship or career disappointment, rejection, alienation, inner conflict, victimization, resentment, superstition, rage, self-doubt or procrastination holding you back, Perhaps your old view of your self has become confining, obsolete, role-bound, or you just feel stuck. Are you afraid you can't cope with either failure or success? We always have to adapt to our environment. You have to TRY, even to fail. Maybe you think your 'glory days' are all in the past.
Through CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY you can retrieve the psychophysical biochemistry of your balanced and peak performance states. You can apply this to pain management as well as emotional issues or boosting your potential. By recalling vital times, you essentially regress your body chemistry to a more youthful you, and minimize the toxic chemistry of stress. This allows both body and mind to relax and recalibrate homeostasis. You can also draw on the support and encouragement of your evolving future self through imagination. Just as one incident can create trauma, one healing moment can change that instantly.
AUTOSUGGESTION: Even small changes in your thinking and attitude can change the way you think and feel about yourself, and your potential for self-expression, challenge, and resilience. It can help you feel you can regain a measure of control over your body and mind. The more positive energy in your life, the less room there is for self-defeating negativity. The more you move toward your positive future, the less the past can exert its backward pull. All you need is the resolve to meet the fear and pain that block you from creative change.
ENVISION YOUR FUTURE
Perhaps you've just lacked the right tools to help you realize your potential, to make it so. Self-mastery is a continuous process which can be used to improve your position wherever you currently find yourself. Our motivations come from our beliefs and values. But along the road of life we may not have developed the resources to deploy our skills or have fallen into traps that derail us when we try. Identifying beliefs and roadblocks is a solid first step to change. You already probably know exactly what you would like to change, and just how you feel when that's not happening, and even where you feel that in your body and what it is like.
The body is an alchemical furnace. The brain sends chemical messengers - neurotransmitters of pain and pleasure - throughout the body. In turn, the body sends signals to the brain about its sense of distress or safety and well-being. We can intervene intentionally in this cycle at any point. We can use nutrition, exercise, and psychosensory exercises that create the kinds of experiences that move us forward in our goals. This is 21st Century alchemy - intentionally changing body chemistry from both inside and outside. Our organism obeys one of the maxims of information technology: "Garbage In; Garbage Out".
IT'S ALL IN YOUR IMAGINATION
DISCOVER THE WHOLE IN YOUR SOUL: What lies beyond the MYSTIC VEIL just out of your reach, what NECESSARY THINGS that make life more worthwhile? WHAT ARE THE FIVE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS of nourishment we can draw from beyond the Mystic Veil of pure potential? Maybe the blessings of infinite love without fear, or optimal health, infinite bounty or infinite Oneness?
What's wrong with the outmoded picture you hold of yourself, your beliefs and your internal map of reality? You can learn to bring more resources from the world of potential into manifestation. Imagination is your greatest tool for self-change. You have an inner directing voice ready to help. Visions, dreams, myths, language and philosophy are more than mere phatoms. They can become as tangible as human flesh.
What is your most precious possession? YOUR BODY! because without it, nothing else matters, not family, relationships, career, money, hobbies, or possessions. Good nutrition, (what you eat to fuel your body and what you don't eat), supports your physical, emotional and mental health. Bodies like routine. A healthy body supports a healthy mind. Without it you can't model good self-care for your loved ones. You can approach your body like a work of art.
PARTICIPATORY WISDOM: Self-Reliance
SELF-DIRECTION: You can apply the same disciplines to your mind, as well. We can use proven techniques to develop more resilience and flexibility in both mind and body. Studies have shown that the mindbody cannot distinguish imagination from reality in its automatic reactions. The same internal chemistry is produced whether you do something or imagine it, making mind and body truly one. Transform your imagination into reality.
It all starts and ends with imagination - with what you picture in your mind and the self-talk you use to convince yourself what things mean and what to do. This is where you develop vision and create meaning which leads to purpose and understanding your mission in life. To change your mind, along with the feelings, attitudes and chemistry that it creates, just systematically change your imagination - the image you hold of your self, others, and world.
INNER GUIDANCE: There is an intimate connection between the chemistry of your body and that of your mind and moods. Health and well-being involves physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions. A healthy mindbody opens the way to balance, integration, and inner peace, without resorting to personality-distorting medications. Research has shown that therapy is as effective as antidepressants. We all need exercise, affection, and discipline. We also benefit from reflection or self-knowledge. This INVESTIGATION OF SELF is a spiritual journey toward increased balance and mastery.
MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES: Methods of Operation
Barry Hostetler is an investigator of mitigating circumstances in capital crimes. He's had the opportunity to interview inmates and hear first-hand how they went wrong. Iona Miller is a Hypnotherapist and writes about human potential and cultural shift. They've learned first-hand, that when people derail, it isn't as simple as "poor choices".
We all have problems. Many have diagnosable disorders: addiction, brain injury, developmental disorder, adjustment disorders, attachment disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders, impulse control disorders. Many of us only have tendencies in these directions but they keep us from fulfillment. Obsession means lack of balance and compulsion is an exaggeration of passion. Narcissism is toxic self-absorption, manipulation and exploitation of others.
Most people with personality disorders have no insight; they are blind to it. But even so-called 'normal' people can have sub-clinical tendencies, self-destructive compulsions, self-sabotaguing impulses, or neurotic self-defeating patterns. This is our psychological baggage. Physical impairments can be another form of baggage or a challenge we can meet. It all depends on our attitude and willingness to give ourselves the time and self-care we need to be good to ourselves.
PIVOTAL MOMENTS
We can learn to let go of both mental and physical baggage. Mental baggage is not only stored in the body, it IS the whole body which is our subconscious memory. We embody our mental, heartfelt and gut-reactions. The mind affects the body and the body affects the mind of our whole organism. If we stray too far from balance, due to stress, trauma or other factors, we lose touch with our essential nature.
Most people recognize psychosis when they see it, but few people realize that personality disorders can warp an otherwise "normal" seeming individual with a personality defect. The deficits range from relatively harmless dysfunctionality and dependencies, to "drama queens" to sociopaths without any conscience. Intelligence is no mitigating factor for the toxic or exploitive; they will use their intelligence to blame the problems on others, for games and rackets. Often they are unconscious masters at employing what are essentially brainwashing techniques to convince you of their warped perspective.
You can tell when a transaction or relationship is off, because you want to scream "STOP! You're driving me crazy", or you find yourself "walking on eggshells" around them, so they don't go off on you. But that is never enough; the disturbance is independent of your interaction with them, and they will make chaos happen no matter what you do. Their lives are based in perpetual turmoil and chaos, and that is what they find familiar, while normalcy seems boring.
Characterological disorders include Narcissism, Borderline Personality Defect, Antisocial or Oppositional Disorder, Paranoia, and Sociopathy. Typically, victims who are warped become victimizers, manipulators, predators.
All criminals have an M.O., a modus operandi or METHOD OF OPERATING, that predicts how they will behave and what patterns they tend to follow for good or ill. A self-destructive or self-defeating tendency is part of the problem and often leads to capture. This M.O. is more pronounced in some, describing their pathological criminal behavior. Profiling is a way of figuring out an M.O. when you don't know the perpetrator's identity.
But we each have an M.O. in life, which is the way we typically operate in life based on our beliefs and values about WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN LIFE. Often we can clearly see the problems and road hazards for others, but we are blinded or unconscious of our own deficits, our secret shame. They are in our Shadow and we are unable to alter them despite our yearnings for change or personal growth.
We've interviewed hundreds of people on their childhoods, beliefs, motivations, attitudes and behavior. We've seen their patterns of dysfunction, pathologies, denial and their guilt, their rage and vanity. Most criminals are first and foremost toxically narcissistic, if not sociopathic. Many have severly damaged or malfunctioning brains. Others had abusive childhoods. You don't have to be criminal to be a toxic narcissist but just be so self-absorbed that others suffer from your constant selfishness.
We can all claim mitigating circumstances, reasons we are the way we are and do what we do. This led us toward identifying a few practical techniques, MILESTONES for changing self-defeating patterns. Part of it includes clarifying values and beliefs, life scripts and games. Supporting a healthy lifestyle with good nutrition and exercise for a healthy body and meditation for a healthy mind. Everyone in the fast-paced modern world can benefit from a daily "time-out" to clear the mind and connect with their own Essence. This is spirituality, whether you do it in a religious or non-religious context.
It is vitally important to well-being to care for both mind and body. With simple spiritual technologies, we can transform ourselves to be closer to what we would like to be, which reveals our spirituality. Make PERSONAL GROWTH a priority, in the sense of 'Know Thyself'. You will probably come up with as many questions as answers, but let's travel down this spiritual path together for a bit and see what we discover.
THE FIVE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
INFINITE PEACE
INFINITE LOVE
INFINITE BOUNTY
INFINITE HEALTH
INFINITE ONENESS
AWAKEN YOUR GENIUS: These attributes or qualities of the Infinite emanate out from a center that is everywhere and nowhere or Nothing. You can imagine it as the unbound Zero Point Energy of subspace beyond energy/matter. Everything in existence comes from this groundstate, the blueprint of creation. Everything and nothingness emanates in all directions to a circumference both everywhere and finite. We can tap this NEGENTROPY with the Power of Insight and self-expression. It is the wellspring of creativity.
PERPETUAL MOTION: This process sustains our mindbodies and works for us even better when we tap into it consciously each day for refreshment and renewal. This creative spirit is constantly in motion and a manifestation of our sacred inwardness, attributes of our personal genius, the self or essence, authentic spirit. If we have fallen into self-estrangement from perfection, it is into narcissism or false ego. The past is behind ego; the future is in front of ego. Your future is a process, not a destination. Self as mindfulness, is always here NOW. Your own interior space is the labyrinth of transformation.
SOURCE: Each day we can feed on or absorb the qualities of authentic genius. We call a person a genius who manifests exemplary humaness at its most creative, who is in tune with the times or zeitgeist. We may not "be" a genius", but we each "have" potential genius within us. The influence of primordial genius transcends time and space. We seek it in the Abyss of our primordial selves. What is best and oldest within us transcends creation, where the self begins. Art is itself Nature, and the art of being fully human means expanding our consciousness beyond mere personality.
SUSTENANCE: To absorb means to take something in as through the pores or every atom of the body, to engross our full attention or energy, or to assimilate fully. We are a conduit or transformer of the unmanifest to the manifest. This is the deep nature of our embodiment, augmenting ourselves as we move from the past to the future. Fierce originality is a quality of self-actualization. Genius is a mystery of consciousness that arises in the individual imagination whenever it appears. Our genius is our inclination, natural gift or inborn imaginative power. Genius recognizes itself. Genius has no limits.
ANCHOR GENIUS: If a practice augments our consciousness -- intensifies, clarifies, activates or widens our awareness --why wouldn't we use it? All generic forms of meditation, visualization and active imagination do this if we but use them. We can imagine our thumb is Infinite Oneness and attribute the other elements to our fingers in no particular order. This allows us to create simple ANCHORS in the receptive state as cues we can 'fire off' by touching thumb and fingers together to potentiate and manifest each quality with appreciation and gratitutude.
UNBOUND SELF: This is an instant signal to the mindbody which can be reinforced each day, reminding us to let the energies of Oneness, Peace, Love, Bounty and Health flow through us unobstructed. This is the apprehension of our own genius, our inmost creative spirit. This is what we mean by Self-Reliance -- relying on the greater self, rather than the mediocrity of our narcissistic egos. Self is the primordial I AM of Being, as fundamental as inhalation and exhalation. Our lives are defined by their limitations and the strategies we use to cope with and overcome them.
FLOW: Genius embodies powers greater than our own for no one can ever embody at once all the potential qualities of archetypal Self. But we can become extraordinary by transforming our character like carving a diamond from the rough. The self expresses the unity of the personality as a Whole, our holistic organism. The unconscious, including the mindbody and energy body, is the medium from which the sacred Source flows forth.
EXPANDED SELF: The self is the whole range of psychic phenomena, a psychic organ of perception. The self is transcendent, a center between conscious and unconscious, because it points to an unlimited future and unbound creative expansion of the evolutionary process. It signifies the harmony and balance of various opposing forces. Symbols of the self can be anything the ego recognizes as a greater totality than itself: the androgyne, the diamond body, the flower of life.
HUMAN SURVIVAL TECHNOLOGY: Why settle for mediocrity. Genius is in us all, awaiting discovery. We can touch the truly sublime if we but turn our attention receptively in that direction. Talent is a gift; genius is a given ~ but you must claim it to make it yours. Technological development will likely make lots of things quite unexpectedly different quite unexpectedly soon.
We are moving toward sweeping transformation, a transhuman era, in which Bio-art extends our perceptions and enhances us with Superlative State Technology available on demand. Emerging technologies will allow people to control their experience of trust, love, lust, jealousy, loyalty, fear, aggression and hatred. How can we preserve human choice and freedom in a world where people can change their own desires and motivations? But why wait? Soft technologies, meditation and process therapy, are available now. Jumpstart your meaningful process and prepare for your own evolution.

Modus Operandi
5 ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS BEYOND THE MYSTIC VEIL
YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY:
PEAK EXPERIENCE: Have you ever experienced a moment of surpassing bliss? Maybe on the rapids of creative work when a force greater than yourself is guiding your movements to trace out the shapes of truth and beauty? Or perhaps you have found such a moment in the ecstasy of romantic love? Or in an extraordinary success you achieved with a team of good friends? Or perhaps there was a song or a melody that managed to smuggle itself into your heart, setting it alight with kaleidoscopic emotion?
If you have experienced such a moment, experienced the best type of such a moment, then a certain idle (but sincere) thought may also have presented itself to you: “Oh Heaven! I never realized it could feel like this. This is on a different level, so much more real and worthwhile than anything else. Why can’t it be like this always? Why must good times end? I was sleeping and now I am awake.”
MODUS OPERANDI
What is YOUR M.O.?
MOTIVES AND OPPORTUNITY
In the process of investigation and self-investigation, it is necessary to figure out the M.O. or motivating factors that lead to behaviors. These are our basic life patterns. We all make decisions based on our internal map of reality and unconscious hierarchy of values. Values and beliefs drive our behavior.
If we make our own values and beliefs conscious and focus on them, we can direct our energy toward what we really want in life. Question WHY certain values are important to you, what situations you want and what you want to avoid at any cost. Have a friend prompt you with the comparisons to make it easier. List and relist them as you adjust their relative importance. Don't analyze it and don't overthink it or add any other strategy in this exercise.
THE WHOLE IN YOUR SOUL
1. WHAT IS IMPORTANT ABOUT LIFE?
2. Look again and add more values later; they may be more important than your first thoughts.
3. Think about when you were highly motivated and what values drove you.
4. Which values are most important? Rank them in order and re-compare them.
5. Compare each to all the others: If I could have this and not that...would it work for me?
6. IS THIS ME? What is the thing that generates what I ACTUALLY spend my time on, not what I think I should spend it on?
7. Identify conflicts in values. Am I moving away from any values? WHY is that important? Don't pretend or censor yourself.
8. Frame values positively.
What you FOCUS ON is THE secret of life. You can EXPAND your internal map of reality beyond egocentricity and materialism to global beliefs that sustain humankind and our planet.

BRAIN SYNCHRONIZATION & RESONANCE TECH ARE YOU A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH?
Where are the boundaries of conscious experience and self, and why do these boundaries exist? What is beyond this mystic veil? How do boundaries, roles and pathology develop in interaction with parents, caregivers and others? In what ways are they conditioned by prevailing systems of belief, philosophy, sociocultural history, and environment?
How is adult experience and sense of self altered by physical, psychological, social or spiritual development? How does subjective experience relate to intersubjectivity? How do changes in conscious experience affect one's sense of self, for example through meditation, mysticism, or in pathological states?
BEGIN WITH YOUR BELIEFS
When Staying Safe means Staying Stuck your solution IS the problem, it is time for change. We create an internal map of reality so we can feel safe in our family and environment as children, but it is the viewpoint of a child which becomes outmoded or obsolete. Beliefs can come from the inside or outside. We filter sensory input and focus on certain details and delete others, uconsciously, missing the big picture that can challenge and foster our growth.
Values control and organize our beliefs associated with those values. They tell us what's important and help us create operational rules for our lives. Some are empowering and some are disempowering. Values determine what we spend our time on by creating what's important to motivating us to spend time on certain things.
How we evaluate that can lead to conflicting values. They arouse emotion. When you are totally motivated what feelings do you have? Notice how important it is and find its value. If something isn't on your list of values, you won't be motivated. If there is conflict, sometimes you do one thing while other times you do something totally opposite. You spend more time on the most important values whether they contribute or stand in your way of taking action.
Value hierarchies are created in youth (uncritical, unfiltered imprinting up to age 7; modelling and hero worship at ages 7-14; chosen socialization from society at large, 14-21) but the conflicts can be resolved by focusing on their order of importance. Safety is the biggest criteria for value choices. Parents, peers, media, church, local culture are effects. So are historical events and cultural differences.
The part of you that creates a sense of safety also resists positive change, consciously and unconsciously. Part of us wants to remain the same despite our conscious desires. There is a price to pay for changes because it involves moving through the fear and pain to create the results we want.
We all have an internal map of reality and our beliefs generate our reality. Our main agenda is to be right about our beliefs. Values are the source and desire for motivation. Motivation comes from values; sense of safety comes from beliefs. If you create a 1 minute movie internally about what you WANT it is more effective than obsessing on what you don't want. It is even more effective when you are in a meditative state.
SELF-REGULATION: ALPHA AND THETA MEDITATION
If we care for our bodies and minds, they care for us in return. Meditation helps us recalibrate our entire system by taking a time out from the daily grind to refresh ourselves with the blessings of Source, our sacred treasure. Poetry, prayer and meditation open new realms of genuine giving and receiving. This creative power feeds, sustains and revitalizes our special qualities of spirituality; Love, Communion, Vision, Freedom, Expression, Humility, Integrity, Honour and Peace.
1. The first step is relaxation or surrendering of the body and mind so that the mind is uncluttered by unrelated and disturbing thoughts. If thoughts come let them float away like clouds without attaching to them. Let go of disturbances and psychophysical stress. Notice the vibrancy of silence.
2. The second is concentration on a limited area of mental focus to control and direct the mind towards the chosen "object" of concentration. You can focus on a figure, an object, the concept of love or the energy in your heart center, mindfulness, compassion, emptiness or whatever you like. Hold your mind to thatpoint of focus, bringing it back if it wanders to various other unrelated thoughts like daily life, needs, desires, the future and the past. Empty your mind and pass through the Mystic Veil.
3. The third stage transcends all symbols. There is eventual transcendence of the mind, thoughts and all identification with the body and personality. We pass through the Mystic Veil, entering into a state of super-mental union with infinite Oneness. Relax into that receptive mode of being. This is our source of energy, security, self-worth, freedom, strength and peace that helps us cope and deal with our daily lives. We have so much to gain by dedicating at least 20 minutes a day. We obtain greater clarity, health, harmony, happiness, intuition, understanding, creativity and problem solving ability.
These three aspects, RELAXATION, CONCENTRATION and TRANSCENDENCE are the basis of most meditation techniques.

FLOW STATES
FLOW WITH IT: Insight, Wellness, Focus, Connection and Flow.
TAOIST Wisdom:
Flowing with Nature and Mankind
The process of FLOW shares everything with the performance edge of BEING IN THE ZONE. The flow state is like the Zen Archer who takes aim calmly yet accurately. When things flow we feel at One with Nature, Self, and Cosmos.
Csikszentmihalyi's message, FINDING FLOW, encompasses an inspiring and challenging truth: that "it is how we choose what we do, and how we approach it, that will determine whether the sum of our days adds up to a formless blur, or to something resembling a work of art."
Taoism places emphasis on flow, drawing primarily on the metaphor of water's natural behavior. The Tao, itself, revealed graphically in the YIN/YANG symbol, escapes any attempt at definition. In fact, "the Tao that can be expressed is not the eternal Tao; the name that can be defined is not the unchanging name." The Tao is the divine way of the universe, a path of least resistance, the essence of all life.
In Taoism, divinity is both transcendent and immanent, without and within. In this philosophy, the yin forces are exalted, and the creative force is called the mother of all things. It can only be known through mystical insight. It refers to the way we should order our lives to flow with the way the universe operates.
The typical themes and premises of Taoism share much in common with shamanism, Gestalt therapy, Maslow's concepts of self actualization and peak experience, and modern chaos theory. They hold in common the principle of harmonization with nature. They manifest as existential philosophy, nature mystic experiences, and process-oriented therapy. The principle of "flow as health" is fundamental to both Gestalt and Maslow's psychology. The concept of "universe as bountiful parent" is somewhat reflected in the Higher Power model and re-parenting.
Contrary to the schismatic, out-dated Western view, nature, man, and God are not separate. Nature obeys the law of effortlessness, and we can too when we tune in with our deeper essence. Taoist thought has the principle of WU WEI, which is that through inaction and passivity (yin forces), true results are obtained. IT IS A PHILOSOPHY OF BEING, NOT DOING.
The aim of the wise one is ethical living (integrity), in harmony with the Tao, by living in accord with nature. And nature unfolds or creates through the dynamics of chaos and flow. It is a way of living which minimizes stress, strain, and striving.
We can learn directly, experientially from nature. Not just by observing her, but by immersing ourselves in her, becoming one with Her again. The river way teaches us about the nature of flow, and has a spontaneous healing influence.
Nature provides many natural metaphors which parallel, evoke, and mirror human transformation. Taoism reveres the virtues of water first and foremost as exemplifying the Tao, itself. Parallels with process-oriented psychology are easy to find in Taoist literature.
The natural phenomena which the Taoists saw as bearing the closest resemblance to Tao itself was water. They were struck by the way it would support objects and carry them effortlessly on its tide. The Chinese character for swimmer, deciphered, means literally "one who knows the nature of water." Similarly one who knows the nature of the basic life-force knows that it will sustain him if he will only stop his thrashing and flailing and trust it to buoy him and carry him gently forward.
The Ancients had 4 essential elements (fire, water, air, and earth) and a fifth which combined them all: the quintessence. In India, they were called The Tattvas. Whatever names were attributed to them, their archetypal interaction was codified in divinatory systems, such as Tarot and the I Ching, which describes the interplay of Yin and Yang, Feminine and Masculine energies. The "changing lines" in the I Ching describe the dynamics of the present state evolving into the future.
The tension between continuity and change is not simply an ancient philosophical conundrum. It is also at the root of the most pressing questions of our time. Scientific theories in physics and cosmology; in biology and evolution; in psychology, neuroscience, and studies of consciousness and personal identity are all informed by questions of change and continuity.
We wrestle with the tensions of tradition vs. innovation in the law, in religious thought, and political life. Culture itself is the expression of the tension between continuity and change. Our daily headlines announce it!
In addition, the pace of change in scientific discovery, religious thought and practice, technological advancement, environmental transformation, and globalized culture is accelerating at such a dizzying rate that our abilities to cope are tested to the limits. But the key to our thriving and flourishing as human beings, perhaps, to our very survival, depends on how we find continuity in the midst of such rapid change.
"There are no unnatural or supernatural phenomena, only very large gaps in our knowledge of what is natural... We should strive to fill those gaps of ignorance." TAOIST Wisdom:

YOUTHENIZE

E-T, PHONES HOME
YOUTHENIZE YOURSELF: To a great extent we can control our psychobiology by controlling our mental state and vice versa. Under stress we release toxic catabolites into our system which undermine the immune system and age us faster. Without exercise (aerobic, core, strength) poisons accumulate, making the body toxic and mind frustrated and agitated. When we are calm and balanced, body chemistry is non-toxic and immune function improves. Good diet also helps. In fact, it's essential: garbage in/garbage out.
We can return intentionally to more youthful states by doing emotional exercises and visualizations which stimulate the body chemistry of our glory days. The body remembers and mimics that chemical state. Recalling youthful images makes the body produce youthful hormones and more flexible mental and physical states, which improves overall balance and disposition. You get further with power than force. Every access of a memory reframes it.
Kinesiology demonstrates that the mind "thinks" with the body itself. Mindbody is the subtle mechanism behind the disease process. The chemistry you generate with moods and states in your body is crucial to your health and well being. First toxic states of mind affect the energy body, then the physical body. There are hidden determinants of human behavior; subjective and objective experience ultimately share the same essence. You embody the states you experience as corporeal memory. The body is your memory and subconscious.
However, You can learn ways to control that chemistry through mindful self-care and self-regulation. The body is an island of energy/matter and emotions with waves of feelings crashing onto its shores. Body-consciousness can either hide or reveal spirit, depending on how we direct our attention toward our ego, stress (including spiritual distress) and relief. The body and mind must be reunited in a congruent, healthy lifestyle. You must act on what you know.
TIP: When YOUTHENIZING yourself, it is helpful to look through your photos and choose one from a time you felt at your peak, or your happiest, or other 'good chemistry' times. Use the photo as a gateway or portal to that time and state when you do your exercises. Remember, every access is a reframe which modifies the memory.
Normally, the E-system activates during arousal, exertion or in situations of apprehension or danger, while the T-system manifests when danger or anxiety are minimal. We can use a mnemonic to help us remember: the E-system is energized, exalted, or enflammed; while the T-system is tranquil, transformative, and transcendent.Stimulation of the E-system leads us into the external environment, and is associated with warming. Conversely, stimulation of the T-system leads us into the internal environment, and is associated with cooling. Both systems are mediated through a balancing process which takes place in the hypothalamus, so that an “ET” balance is present in “normal” situations. At extremes, they rebound into one another, like the arousal of orgasm leading to afterglow. The interplay of both processes keeps our organism in homeostasis. Stimulation of one system over the other creates specific physiological and psychological or behavioral effects.YIN & YANG
The Ergotropic System directs mechanisms which belong physiologically to bodily work and the relevant dynamics of activation and general excitation. It moves our muscular and skeletal systems. Its potentiation can be mimicked by stimulation of the posterior and medial hypothalamus. This augments sympathetic discharges, increases cardiac rate, causes pupillary dilation, and inhibits gastrointestinal, motor and secretory functions. Other effects on the body include dysynchrony of brain wave patterns and increased skeletal muscle tone. It is related to the elevation of certain hormones including noradrenalin, adrenaline, and adreno-cortical responsiveness. There is also a rise in blood sugar and shortening of time required for coagulation of blood. This is the active phase of strength training. In Chinese systems, this arousal syndrome is considered YANG, in nature.
The Trophotropic System relates to physiological mechanisms of recuperation, protective mechanisms, unloading, restitution of achievement capacity, normalization, and healing. Its effects originate in the anterior or lateral hypothalamus, including pre-optic and supra-optic areas and the septum. It augments visceral responses, parasympathetic discharges, including reduction in cardiac rate, blood pressure, and sweat secretion. The pupil of the eye constricts, and there is an increase in gastrointestinal, motor and secretory function with a fall in blood sugar.
Brain waves become characteristically synchronized with production of alpha and theta patterns. There is loss of skeletal muscle tone, a blocking of the shivering response and increased secretion of insulin. The t-system is associated with the neurotransmitter, serotonin. Its behavioral effects include inactivity, drowsiness, and sleep. They are associated with meditative states. This is the recuperative phase of physical training. In Chinese systems, this tranquil state is considered YIN, in nature.
The natural cycle of ergotropic and trophotropic processes is governed by the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. They mediate cycles of arousal and calm, and are therefore implicated in a variety of disorders which display states of hyperarousal and hypoarousal. The neurotransmiters noradrenalin and serotonin interact in a variety of states. Interhemispheric balancing mediates the harmonization of the left and right hemispheres of the brainmind. They modulate fight-flight responses, and pain-pleasure cycles. They are chemically related to cycles of inflation, desire, acting out, guilt, remorse, high wellbeing, self-acceptance, and self-esteem. At their extremes, meditative and exalted states reflect as psychological and physiological paradox. They switch into their opposites.
The balance between two opposing systems of the brain may account for heightened sensitivity. One system, the yang “behavioral activation system” is hooked up to sections of the brain that propel people into new situations, making us curious and eager for external rewards. Another yin system, the “behavioral inhibition system,” compares present situations to past ones before proceeding and alerts the body to be cautious in risky situations. When the behavioral inhibition system in a person’s brain is the stronger of the two system, sensitivity results. Decreased serotonin levels may result from the stress of repeated overarousal.
Consciousness, Creativity and E/T-systemsThe E-system function is analogous to the psychosexual energy known as Kundalini. Its content is perceived sensually. The T-system arousal, on the other hand, is sought through purely mental effort, with transcendence of sensory perception, yet there is still imagery which appears in sensory metaphors. To reach a ‘bliss’ state (or experience of Self) at either end of the spectrum, requires remaining trophotropically relaxed while ergotropically alert. One moves away from “normal” perception either along the “left-handed path” towards hallucinatory states, or along the “right-handed path” of meditation. Activation of the T-system brings desirousness, mania, ecstasy; while that of the T-system yields satiety, relaxation, serenity, calm. This expressed in the colloquialism “cool, calm, and collected” vs. “hot-blooded, spitfire, burnout.”
There are two nitrogen-containing organic compounds in the brain (called amines) which are significant in the balance of physical and mental processes. They are neurotransmitters, chemicals which are highly significant in the movement of electrical impulses between neurons (nerve cells) in the human Central Nervous System. The electrical charges always jump from nerve cell to nerve cell with the help of a given chemical helper, or neurotransmitter. Two specific compounds were originally proposed as the chemical mediators of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems of arousal. Newer research shows a myriad of neuromodulators, but these two still take center stage in the complex chemistry.
YANG: Noradrelalin (NA) also called norepinepherine corresponds with the solar Sulpher and works through the sympathetic system. It facilitates adaptation to external reality. When stimulated, it produces an excited anxious state of enflamment which can culminate in ecstasy. Among disorders of this system are manic episodes and hypervigilance. All illicit CNS stimulants (street drugs like spped and cocaine & pharmaceuticals like amphetamines) create chemical hyperarousal and lead therefore to addiction.
YIN: Serotonin (5-HT) corresponds with the lunar Mercury and works through the parasympathetic system. Its influence is felt in a relaxed condition, like contemplation or meditation. Serotonin deficiencies are blamed for a host of disorders, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
In physiology, the sympathetic nervous system produces involuntary responses such as alarm, and the “fight-flight” syndrome. The parasympathetic functions include digestion, and slowing one down. The chemicals noradrenalin and serotonin work in the body as cooperative antagonists; they balance one another in such a manner that we do not get too speedy, or sluggish at inappropriate times. We can easily recognize the “switching mechanism” in ourselves at various times. The most dramatic switch occurs in orgasm, when the body rapidly moves from a highly aroused state to one of extreme relaxation and torpor, even sleep. Another example occurs in the creative process, at the moment of “A-ha,” when intense concentration gives way to satisfactory solution.Noradrenalin and serotonin are also the mediators of the pain-pleasure cycle.
Have you ever wondered why it is practically impossible to stay on a natural “high,” happy at every moment? The normal functioning of chemical processes in he brain makes this impossible. However, mystical practice can moderate the mood swings experienced by most individuals, and even open a realm of bliss, which is distinctively different from an ordinary good mood. Traditionally this bliss is called “spiritual nectar” and emanates from the pineal gland.Noradrenalin mediates pleasure, action, excitation, motor behavior, and goal-oriented behavior. When there is imbalance, it contributes to depression or manic behavior.
Serotonin mediates inaction, satiety, sleep, feeding, and functions as a punishment/pain system to inhibit and balanced the reinforcement/reward system mediated by noradrenalin.Serotonin is believed to be a reciprocal inhibitor of noradrenalin’s ability to function as a sexual stimulant. This may, in part, account for traditions of ecstatic enflamment, such as Tantra; and conversely, for the progressively decreasing interest in sex reported by many yogis. When one encounters the Self internally, a larger consciousness of the world and universe, solutio occurs.
The best qualities of the ego survive and are refined - those aspects of the ego which consciously relate to the Self or essence. This alchemical operations has characteristic stages which relate directly to the phenomenology of transformation:1. Return to the primal state;2. Dissolution, dispersal, and dismemberment;3. Containment of a lesser thing by a greater;4. Rebirth, rejuvenation, immersion in the creative flow;5. Purification ordeal;6. Solution of problems;7. Melting or softening process (dissolving).

YOU CREATE YOUR OWN PERSONAL REALITY
AND YOU CAN CHANGE IT NOW
“We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are.” --Anais Nin
PIVOTAL MOMENTS
In order to be able to stabilize THE FIVE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS in our lives, we need to understand how our reality is created through our peceptions and experiences. A major obstacle to CONSCIOUS LOVE RELATIONSHIPS is our confusion about who is responsible for what happens to us and how we feel about it. This confusion is caused by two mistaken perceptions:
1. That others cause our reality. When we believe this, we feel pain, bitterness, anger and hate when we do not have what we want and need.
When we believe this, we feel pain, bitterness, anger and hate when we do not have what we want and need.
2. That we are the cause or creators of others' realities. This leads to feelings of guilt, shame, fear, bitterness, self-rejection, anger and hate, when others do not cooperate with us to as to create the positive reality we believe they must have in order for us to be successful and worthy as the "creators of their reality."
Such beliefs lead to co-dependent relationships that are much more susceptible to disappointment, bitterness, guilt, pain and of course conflict. Love requires that we take total responsibility for our reality and allow others to take responsibility for theirs.
Love relationships naturally thrive on caring for each other and helping each other as much as possible. It natural that we will ask for help and will loving offer help the others. But we cannot create their reality and they cannot create ours. Much love is lost when we blame others for the reality we ourselves are creating as well as when we blame ourselves for the reality they are creating for themselves.
Much love is lost when we blame others for the reality we ourselves are creating as well as when we blame ourselves for the reality they are creating for themselves.
How then do we create our personality reality?
The ability to love requires that we arrive at an even higher level of perception were we can understand that there are universal laws governing all that occurs in this universe. Scientists understand this in relationship to the physical and energy realms. Few however have totally understood this in terms of consciousness, mind, spirit, human will and fate.
All religions embrace the concept that spiritual laws govern all events in the universe according to a hidden wisdom and justice that is often difficult for us to understand. Spiritual philosophies teach us that all of creation is designed to facilitate the evolution of the soul, and that all that happens to each of us is exactly the stimulus we need in order to move forward in that evolutionary process.
Another spiritual precept is that each soul - personality is the sole creator of its personal subjective reality and that no other can create or be responsible for our reality. And in turn we cannot be responsible for or create others' realities.
Here are some factors that intertwine so as to create the matrix of our subjective personal reality.
Creating Reality Through Interpretation and Projection
1. We create our subjective reality by the way in which we interpret behaviors, situations and events. Unfortunately we often do not perceive what is there, but actually what we have been programmed to believe is there. It has been shown in scientific experiments that we have difficulty seeing what we do not believe. Our belief system works as a filter that subjectively and selectively interprets whatever is perceived in ways that corroborate what we already believe and ignores what we do not.
For example, if we believe that others will reject us and do not love us, we will interpret their actions as a form of rejection and lack of love for us even when that is not the reality. We have all been surprised by people who have misinterpreted our actions and believed that we had motives and feelings that we never had.
We do the same. We project onto persons and situations motives and dangers that simply are not there. When we do so, we experience fear, pain, bitterness, creating unnecessary unhappiness for ourselves and others.
We, however, may find that we have differing and often conflicting beliefs creating a confused reality. It may be useful here to discuss the various forms of belief systems. I would like to hypothesize some different categories of beliefs.
a. Emotionally Charged Impressions - These are not so much beliefs as "impressions", which are imprinted on the mind during traumatic experiences. The mind then identifies this particular stimulus with this emotionally charged feeling, and when we think of it, we feel fear and other emotions. We do not go through thinking processes here such as analyzing, evaluating and coming to conclusions. This kind of "belief" has a strong "emotional charge" but no actual inertia or mass, because it is not based on observations and facts, but rather on one or two intense experiences - which of course - are not representative of reality.

b. Mistaken Childhood Conclusions - These are usually mistaken beliefs about a reality in which we perceive ourselves as weak, wrong, unlovable and to blame for just about everything that happens around us such as our parents anger, absence, unhappiness, indifference, divorce, illness, death etc. We falsely interpret that we are unworthy or unable and that others will always behave towards us in ways that we experienced in childhood.
These first two categories are usually repressed in the subconscious mind (shadow, inner child - whatever you prefer) because of the pain and confusion they produce. We suppress them so that we can focus and function in our daily lives. They are encased in an "energy membrane" much as our body envelopes a sliver or cut in our skin in order to prevent it from poisoning the rest of the body.
Although these "beliefs" are repressed so that we do not feel the unpleasant negative emotional-energy charge associated with them, they are activated whenever we come into contact with or think of the specific stimulus. They generate fear, emotional withdrawal and often aggressive behavior. They also create psychosomatic illnesses. They control our reactions to events, situations and persons.
Because of their repression and subsequent isolation from our conscious mind, these first two belief systems do not evolve as we do. They remain in their original state regardless of our evolving logic, reasoning, new experiences and spiritual faith. Unless we engage in inner psychological or spiritual work, they receive no new data.
The third category of beliefs is our:
c. Evolving Conscious Belief System:
This is our conscious belief system which, as it processes new data, reevaluates its perceptions of reality seeking to make the adjustments necessary in order to understand the truths behind the phenomena we observe.
This is actually evolving in only some people. Many have stopped processing new data and thus have remained with the same conscious belief system for many years and will leave their bodies with it.
This belief system understands that we are safe, secure, good, worthy and capable. It also realizes that we are not in danger from people, heights, cars, insects, dogs, cats, elevators, airplanes etc.
The facts available to it cause it to realize that its fears are unfounded. It realizes that our self-worth has nothing to do with what others say, think or do.
Yet we continue to experience fear and its resulting emotions due to our previous two categories of beliefs, (Emotionally Charged Impressions and Mistaken Childhood Conclusions) which are isolated from and usually stronger than our Evolving Conscious Belief System.
b. Our Spiritual Intuitive Faith constructs our fourth category of beliefs. These beliefs are usually based on faith rather than proof. We feel that what we believe is true. In addition to being affected by others' spiritual beliefs, we also experience inner awakenings or revelations in which we just "know" that something is true.
The last two conscious categories of beliefs are usually weak when confronted with specific stimuli, which awaken our first two repressed categories. We may have total faith in our immortality or in divine wisdom and justice, but when confronted with stimuli that awaken our Emotionally Charged Impressions and Mistaken Childhood Conclusions, the power of these later two often temporarily overshadow our faith and logic.
We have simultaneous multiple beliefs, which are working at different levels creating conflicting emotions and reactions to events and situations. We can simultaneously feel love, peace, hurt and anger because our various beliefs are creating different internal realities.
YOUR PERSONALITY TYPE
No one is all together an inward Introvert or an outward Extravert, and many tend toward the center of the spectrum. Often the people-pleasing extravert is valued more highly in society than the reflective introvert, but they are of equal value. Jung noted that our unconscious expresses the opposite side, creating a personal balance between both tendencies.
Thinking types see time as linear, and relate the past to the present and future for an orienting reference and to plot choices. They are decisive. The other three types embody particular dimensions of the time line. Feeling types dwell on the past, positive or negative. Sensation types live for the moment with little regard for consequences. Intuitives invest themselves in potential, in anticipation of future actualization. But no matter what type you are, you can ENVISION YOUR FUTURE to good effect, with focus and purpose.
Sensation Person (S): Physical world is the primary basis of personality and main focus is on the details and concreteness of reality, attention to immediate stimuli. Body oriented. Aesthetic sensibility and sensuality. Gives great attention to detail, to getting things just right, ignoring the larger perspective, or the feeling level of a situation. Strong sense of physical competence, manual dexterity, responsive in crisis. Wants to act on and concretize intuitions or hunches.
Engineers, rule followers, lawyers, office workers, accountants, emergency and medical workers, and perfectionists fall generally within this type. The present - the here and now - is their predominant orientation. Intense sense of the transitory nature of things. Loves variety and mobility.
Motivated by desires more than ideas or plans. Observant; close to the physical environment. Insists on self-sufficiency, and control of self and others; manipulative. Tends toward pessimism. Values social structure. Desires peak experiences; thrill seeking; loves mysteries, magic and games. Magnetic, vital, reactive, superstitious, charming; knows what pleases others.
Intuitive Types (N): The intuitive is the opposite of the sensation person with more imaginative than active energy. Intuition is subconscious or subliminal information, a mental perception without a physical cause; source of insiration, creativity, nevel ideas and imagery. Vision or 6th sense is the primary basis of personality; highly imaginative, living in a complex mental world.
Relatively indifferent to the “real,” utilitarian world. Unobservant of surroundings. They can’t be bothered with details, are concerned more with gestalts, with perceiving the whole, with having great insights, and with unlimited creativity. They often start many projects but finish very few because of lack of ability to deal with details. Sudden insights, global thinking and creative ideas out of the blue are their forte. They believe in destiny, spirituality.
Charismatic, inspirational. Cannot structure time, get carried away, disregard consequences, excessive, very communicative. Theoretical physicists, innovators, creators, therapists, esoterics, psychics, pathfinders, and the slightly bizarre number in the ranks of intuitives. Egalitarian, regardless of social roles. The intuitive is always focused on the future, on potential so is optimistic, fun-loving, excitable, eccentric, changeable. Charms and moves others. The present is never good enough, and the past is quickly forgotten.
Thinking Types (T): The organizers of society, with facts, ideas, or people. Needs structure, routine, and direction. Intellectually considered motives; deductive; scholarly; highly verbal and witty and dynamic. Thinking involves making or discovering conscious links between people or things. Systems thinkers; conceptual, principled, logical, sensible, rational; idea and theory-oriented. Intolerant of chaos or ambiguity. The head guides the heart with ideas generating feeling, rather than the reverse.
Seeks the reasons for things; logical consistency is main value. Just, ethical, and compassionate if judgmental. Vulnerable to emotional arousal, disillusionment. Feelings activated by others; cool or cold and self-critical, serious; hard to comfort yet seeks approval. Competitive; headstrong. Desires impact; authoritative and freely gives advice.
Mathematicians, some teachers, executives, lawyers, bridge players, and the somewhat cool and objective are generally among the thinking types. Thinking bridges time past, present, and future; temporal continuity is important. They easily structure time, and enjoy following the process of things; somewhat linear. Writers are often found in this category, if the subject matter is rational.
Feeling Types (F): Feeling is the relational function keying on the emotional impact of past events. It is a kind of judging or evaluation. Feeling is the expression of positive and negative energy -attraction or repulsion, worthiness for acceptance or rejection. “I like this and I don’t like that.” Places the highest value on intimacy. Steers by feeling values and processes in relationship. As with thinking, its opposite, feeling organizes reality, including involvement with life’s cycles and nature. It does not perceive reality, as does intuition, but reacts to it. They seem to live the relational life at double intensity. Very aware of cyclic nature of life, yet slow and reluctant to change.
Emotional intelligence. Feeling types are emotionally aware and versatile; practical, grounded, empathic, compassionate, romantic, personal, sentimental. Enchanting, warm, responsive, sensitive. They read and express feelings accurately, perceiving nuance, detecting shades of emotion. Fanatical and emotional in thought. Highly sensitive to emotional climates and others; diplomatic, naturally therapeutic; strong desire to belong. Needs affection and can appear dependent, vulnerable.
Interested in growth and engagement of personality. They are the harmonizers and socializers who work well with people, finding the right words, saying the right things and responding to others’ needs. Sees and rejects manipulation by others. These are teachers, therapists, novelists, great gossipers and dancers, who love body contact. High potential for negative emotionalism; experience the greatest ‘freakouts;’ vulnerable to self-pity and vindictiveness (Drama Queen).

EVOLUTION OF BELIEF PARADIGMS
The sophistication of our beliefs about the way ourselves and the world works has evolved over time. But not everyone lives in the Present, with a belief system that is consistent with our current rational knowledge. Beliefs are influenced by emotional and psychosocial pressures.
Many people are firmly invested in the spiritual practices of by-gone eras, for good or not so good. Regardless, time and technology march on, impacting our psychophysical organism with challenges never faced by humanity before. The future-oriented are already living there. As has been pointed out: "The future is already here; it just isn't evenly distributed." To truly live mindfully in the Now, which is all we ever actually have, is to live at your Cosmic Zero Point http://myzeropoint.50megs.com
For thousands of years, tribes were so well adapted to their environments, they had little need to evolve. Their worldviews and reality differed, but not so overwhelmingly as for repressed cognitive dissonance to drive them to higher-numbered stages
Belief systems are like reality wormholes into the past. Part of us can live in the 14th, 17th, or 19th century, depending on eclectic spiritual ideas we have embraced or gotten stuck in. The same individual, such as a religious scientist, can embrace conflicting beliefs from different centuries. Compartmentalization is the only way to deny this cognitive dissonance.
Self-regulatory techniques can be adopted without this psychological baggage, with or without maintaining the spiritual or religious context. Somewhere on the planet, humans are living in every niche of the evolutionary belief spectrum. Which existential experience you perceive depends on the filters of your options (environment), beliefs and values.
Each stage represents a limited understanding and repressions until its liabilities force us into the next stage. Alternating stages are self-expressive and social. First new traits and states are emergent; then they stabilize. Our archetypal experiences can be regressions or expressions of our present highest state of development or emergent, then stabilized intuitions of still higher states. Each stage is a worldview with its own needs, belief style and existential ground. Each is its own trance state, a lens through which the world is perceived with certain distortions. Each can be a trap of complacency as we enjoy its rewards.
Stage 1: Archaic: Survival, the Ground Zero of Existence. Self-preservation, isolation; antisocial. Paranoid or idiosyncratic beliefs.
Stage 2: Tribal: Truster/Trickster. Social; love, belonging. Self-sacrifice vs. selfishness. Transgression; taboo. Ethnocentric magical and superstitious beliefs.
Stage 3: Egocentric: Power; Esteem; Autonomy, heroic. Unscrupulous Competition/Hero. Shame vs. honor. Exploitation vs. Respect. Mythic beliefs.
Stage4: Moral/Patriotic. Rules; Initiative. Shame and guilt vs. conformity and conventionality; purpose, virtue. Systematized truths. Emotional, nostalgic beliefs.
Stage 5: Materialist. Reasoning; mental analysis. Rational beliefs, truth; goodness; consumerism, greed. Head vs. heart. Progressive if rewarded, compulsive, workaholic. Perspective. Rational beliefs.
Stage 6: Wise Empath. Service, rapport, intimacy, empathy. Politically correct.. Inner wisdom, meaning. Self-actualization. Intuitive, mystical beliefs.
Stage 7: Distancer/Self. Paradoxical; individuated, reclusive; universalist. Deconstruction and Synthesis, gestalt, the big picture. Integral, synergetic beliefs.
Stage 8: Global Village. Complex Dynamic Beliefs. “Express Self Now, but not at the expense of Others or the World, so that Life May Continue.” (Graves) Sustainable beliefs.
As the most advanced mental structure, the Self resists ordinary articulation so completely that, according to Jung, it is the primary object of mysticism. Indeed, an experience of the Self also constitutes one of Reality, because the two reflect each other, providing (again, according to Jung) para-psychological knowledge of and influence over Reality. Jung considers the Self as a repository of all archetypes, which is, among other things, a way of saying that someone advanced in Stage Seven has experienced all the preceding ones, and, as part of a final dialectic between conscious and unconscious, is likely to refine mastery over the preceding ones. AND YOU CAN CHANGE IT NOW

RETRIEVE YOUR ESSENCE AND NURTURE THE UNIVERSE;
BRING BACK THE BALANCE OF YIN AND YANG;
EMBRACE THE MATERNAL AND LET THE MATERNAL EMBRACE YOU.

INFINITE HEALTH
INFINITE PEACE
THE MYSTIC VEIL
Filter the negative energy through the screen of The MYSTIC VEIL, converting it into positive energy. Then send it our into the Universe, thereby changing your own consciousness as well as the universal consciousness. This helps bring the Five Essential Elements into the Bizarro side of the Mystic Veil, resulting in flipping the energy of the Veil and increasing manifestation and embodiment of the Five Essential Elements.
THE FLOW OF THE TAO
Fill the Void with the Five Essential Elements.
Then, let them flow out to the universe.
The continual flow (pulsations) must keep moving, never becoming stuck. A river never bcomes "stuck"; it just flows on.
Change the energy of your thoughts into matter (neuropeptides). Then change the matter back into energy and flow the positive energy out into the Universe. This is Conscious Alchemy.
THE TAO OF STEVE
YOU are a filter or transformer of Cosmic Energy. Alchemy happens in your mindbody when you make yourself receptive to the FIVE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS, bring them across The Mystic Veil, and transmit them into the manifest Universe.
What you pursue will retreat. When you pursue, rather than letting go and becoming receptive, your goal retreats beyond the barrier to happiness. When you draw on the essential elements that barrier becomes the mystic veil and the unmanifest can come into you and become embodied and transmitted out to the ends of the universe.
"Reptilian", or primitive brain energy, feeds those who operate at that unevolved level of automatic response mechanisms. So, if you break the cycle in yourself of transmitting this toxic energy, it lessens its increment in the world. You stop feeding the toxic cycle.

How do you find God? By NOT finding him. It's a lifetime of seeking. Those who think they found Him have ceased their journey and will never find Him.
SHAZAM AS YIN & YANG
Captain Marvel is YANG - unlimited heavenly possibilities.
Mary Marvel is YIN - earthbound goddess, grounded in nurturing.
Balance: YIN & YANG
Each of us is male.female in our energy bodies. When we memorize the aspects of SHAZAM, we can evoke transformation. The transformation is a complete balance of masculine/feminine, patriarchal/matriarchal, Yin/ Yang.
WE STRIVE FOR BALANCE AND FLEXIBILITY TO TRAVEL BETWEEN YIN AND YANG AT WILL.
CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY
Change your STATE:
If you are ANGRY - remember the Tao, the flowing river energy. Take yourself in imagination "DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE" and picture that calm flowing energy flowing into you, while anger flows on downstream and dissipates completely. Make a phrase, such as "Ain't gonna study war no more" to change your thought patterns and stop obsessive ruminations. It is even better to make a positively stated goal.
LUCID DREAMING
You can practice lucid dreaming, awake or asleep. The waking dream is an opportunity for transformation. To program yourself for lucid dreaming, look at your hands while in the dream to remember you are dreaming...then you can play creatively with your plastic imagination.
VISUALIZATION
Visualization helps you change your "scripts" and attitudes. Use visualization to conquer depression. For example, picture something totally absurd that makes you chuckle inwardly, such as "GANDHI ON A STRIPPER POLE".
Courage is not the absence of fear; Courage is conquering fear. Intervene in your own toxic tought/feeling cycles and they will change. You can modulate your states.
THE TECHNIQUE OF CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY
1. MEDITATE with Holosynch, Hemisynch or similar resonance technology, or the practice of your choice.
2. CONTEMPLATE on the 5 ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS, either in order, randomly, or specifically on the ones that are resourceful for you at that current time. For example, if you are anxious about something, go to Infinite Peace, making yourself receptive while letting tensions go.
3. To facilitate the flow into the Universe, use the NLP method of THE WATCHER or Observer Self. Get above it all. Go up in a bubble and watch yourself meditating, watch yourself get smaller and smaller and your image change to black and white.
4. Have your WATCHER SELF put a small dot on the bullseye of your small black and white meditating self. Explode the dot into a thousand golden particles AND at the same time, instantly see the image yourself grow huge and in vivid color as the cosmic energy explodes solid particles of pure gold into the Universe. Use the audial digital magic work SHAZAM!!! as you do the process. Repeat the process five times, or until you feel the desired results are embodied in your chemistry and essence. Repeat the process for each essential element in no particular order.
5. One of the positive results of the process is not only are you sending the positive energy of the 5 essential elements out into the universe, but you become aware that your own reptilian thoughts, words and actions also go out into the universe if you don't intervene in the cycle. They can cause irreparable harm not only to the universe but also to individuals as the energy of reptilian thoughs instantly transform into matter in the form of neuropeptides.
Do you want to feed this toxic cycle? NO, of course you don't. The consciousness of the sender of toxic energy is not only being destructive of he universe itself, but also being self-destructive, feeding consciuosness with narcissistic reptilian energy. Not only do we become automatic response mechanisms, we send out toxic reptilian energy into the Collective Unconcious where reptilian people (fundamentalists in every way) feed on the toxic energy.
Reptilian, fear-based energy can be used to control, manipulate and exploit, not only the inhabitants of this planet but the planet itself. Since this planet is our home, these reptilian thinkers and doers are truly HOME WRECKERS. The KEY is to give the elements to the universe. Do not attempt to apply them to yourself or your ocndition. It only works if you pass them through your consciousness and give them to THE ONE. If you apply them only to yourself or your condition they will not work. This becomes a form of narcissism which is THE OBSTRUCTION to the Universe.
THE GOAL
Remember - you can't willfully control your thoughts. You must transform reptilian energy which becomes matter instantly back into energy. Let it flow out of your consciousness into the universe. Failure to do so will clog your consciousness with narcissistic obstructions and will cause you to repeat self-destructive, self-sabotaging actions which not only are destructive to you but to the universe, in general.
The Catch 22 in this process is the awareness that by flowing this reptilian energy out to the universe, that energy feeds the unenlightened reptiles that seem to be currently running the show - the toxic predators. Holding a grudge causes a drop in serotonin, causing an imbalance in your neurotransmitters which permeates your moods and actions.
By being aware of this conssciously, you can actually reprogram your subconscious so that eventually you eliminate your own reptilian, narcissistic thought and only have positive thoughts and enegy on the subconscious as well as the conscious plane. This is an intuitive process. This is enlightenment.
Remember - The goal is to let the thoughts go and at the same time realize the energy of those thought feeds the reptilian consciousness. So, the goal is to train your subconscious to not even have those thoughts, based in faulty beliefs, in the first place. The way to do that is conscious awareness at all time, thus programming your subconscious to eliminate all narcissistic reptilian thought from both conscious and unconscious mind with CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY.
EMBRACE THE VOID from which comes all unconditioned energy/matter.
INSTANTANEOUS CHANGE THE SHAZAM TRANSFORMATION TECHNIQUE
1. Memorize the attributes of what SHAZAM stands for, both the masculine (Captain Marvel) and the feminine (Mary Marvel). The importance of this is to evoke the balance of YIN & YANG.
2. Find a photo of yourself when you were young, strong, and were at your physical peak. Use an image when you were happy and things were going your way, when you were at the apex of your physical powers, emotionally stable and physiologically healthy. Use this photo as a model for your transformation. Even the memory begins changing your body chemistry. That is conscicous alchemy.
3. Sit down in a comfortable chair, alone, in a dimly lit room.
4. If available, listen to a Meditation CD through stereo headphones as you do the process.
5. Relax, take 3 deep breaths, breathing through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Keep your tongue against the roof of your mouth to insure proper breathing technique.
6. Place your left hand on your abdomen so you can feel your diaphram moving in and out as you breathe. It is important to breathe with your diaphragm to insure deep breathing during the process.
7. As you inhale deeply, repeat to yourself the word "I", when you exhale slowly and thoroughly. Inhale the word AM. I AM, I AM, I AM.
8. Breath deeply and slowly three times, inhaling through your nose and exhaling fully through your mouth - I AM, I AM, I AM...
9. When you've done your breathing, become The Watcher. See your self, high above your meditating self, watching yourself meditating.
10. Have The Watcher you make the meditating you grow smaller and further away until the meditator you becomes so small that the watcher you can barely see the meditater you because the it is so small and far away.
11. As the meditater you becomes distant and smaller, change the image to black and white.
12. Now, place a dot, like a laser beam in the center of the small, distant, black and white you, like a bullseye target.
13. Evoke the word SHAZAM!!! and have the black and white small distant you explode into a huge technicolor image of pure golden energy, changing the toxic lead of narcissism to pure gold of pure awareness.
14. Watch as the golden energy swirls, then come together to form an image of yourself as you were in the photo you picked out earlier.
15. Repeat the process five times fast. Try to go faster each time you repeat it, so by the 5th time it happens instantly. As fast as the thought that creates the image, you transform utterly.
16. Notice how you feel: stronger, younger, more energy, positive, on top of your game with unlimited possibilities.
17. Repeat the process daily as many times as you want or need at will to control your moods and state. Simply by repeating the word SHAZAM!, wherever you are, you can immediately change your state at will.
18. You can say the word SHAZAM out loud, once you do the initial process. It actually has more power for transformation when you do say it and hear it aloud.
19. Enjoy your results.
20. Spread that joy and serenity.
PEACE IN.
SHAZAM SELF-MASTERY
In the comic, Captain Marvel's power figues invoked with the acronym SHAZAM were Solomon=Wisdom, Hercules=Strength, Atlas=Stamina, Zeus=Power, Achilles=Courage, and Mercury=Speed. His female counterpart Mary Marvel relied on Selena=Grace, Hippolyta=Strength, Ariadne=Skill, Zephyrus=Speed, Aphrodite=Beauty, Minerva=Wisdom.
Both men and women can benefit by identifying with this pantheon of qualities and abilities. We each have masculine and feminine components, which are often balanced out by our partners. We can learn to carry those qualities for ourselves, coming closer to our own wholeness. Then we are even better partners because we are calm and balanced.
If your aim is self-mastery, how should you direct your attention toward that goal? Attention divides and re-attributes consciousness and energy for purposeful creation. Attention defines what can be made. Focus on your states of consciousness and learn how to modulate them deliberately, creatively. You are a frameless work of art in the act of becoming.
You can widen your spectrum of available states, enhancing your quality of life. Attention flows into action, purified by passion, assisted by language, fitting appropriately with what it must act on, in the trance necessary for the action and reflection on that manifestation. Through CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY you can retrieve the psychophysical biochemistry of your balanced and peak performance states. This essentially regresses your body chemistry to a more youthful you, and minimizes the toxic chemistry of stress.
We may or may not achieve our desires in terms of self-mastery, but we can move consistently toward them by applying discipline and establishing creative routines. We can structure our lives so positive changes have room to grow and bloom.
All states of consciousnes are trances. They can be externally as well as internally directed. What trances have you been reinforcing in your life and how do you do it? Language, and therefore self-talk, is a powerful trance inducer. So are physical cues - certain sights, sounds, touch, smells.
If you find yourself automatically trancing in a negative way, you can change that by simply directing your attention systematically. You intend to change that state and you simply do it, and do it now. Why now? Because this present moment - the eternal NOW - is all there ever is. Besides. if not NOW, when? Now it is possible; and now you can do it. You can make tangible changes toward actualizing your potential.
SHAZAM SUCCESS
1. GOAL SETTING: Know your outcome.
2. PROACTIVE: Move yourself by deciding to act now.
3. FEEDBACK: Notice the effects of your actions.
4. MODULATE: If your chosen action is not working, change your approach and do something different.
EMULATE SELF-REALIZERS
1. Find a role models enjoying results you desire.
2. Find out that person's patterns and behaviors.
3. Emulate that behavior until you achieve your results.
BENCHMARK ACTION=SUCCESS:
Write down two decisions you are procrastinating on that could change your life if you take action. Decide to do so and take action immediately on these two decisions.
BENCHMARK RITUALS: Self-Conditioning
1. Identify your rituals and ways of viewing the world, your self-talk and body-language.
2. List five negative emotions you habitually experience (depression, discouragment, sadness, loneliness, etc.)
3. Target your ritual cycles for each of these emotions: the patterns and tapes in your mind you replay to feel them, the habitual round of associations, the "recipe" for each emotional state, and its "payoff". You can intervene in any part of a ritual cycle to change it by disrupting the habitual pattern.
4. Do the same for five positive emotions you connect with, such as resilience, resourcefulness, cooperation.
OVERCOME PROCRASTINATION RITUALS
1. Find out just how you create the state;
2. If you don't do what you're putting off what are the real and absolute worst-case consequences?
3. If you were already done with this task how much more joy would you have? Picture it and really FEEL it.
4. Reframe into a habit of "I want to..." rather than "I have to..." then "fake it till you make it".
5. Learn new body movements and proactive behavior to interrupt the procrastination cycle; take a baby-step, then another, and another.
What's New with My Subject? SHAZAM SELF-SCULPTING
In the original comic book 'Billy Batson', becomes superhero 'Captain Marvel' when he says the magic word 'Shazam!', an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world. You too can call upon your own pantheon of transpersonal forces to transform and support you in the transformation process. By doing this you practice and learn to incorporate a part of their archetypal powers.
PARTICIPATORY WISDOM: You can create a better you, starting with personifiying an image of your resourceful, super-functioning WHOLE SELF. Jung suggested personification as a way of dialoguing and building a relationship with the higher self, our genius or Daemon, who represents our potential powers...our inner superhero.
The SIX BUILDING BLOCKS are: attention, language, passion, fitting or resonance, trance and making. The EIGHT POWERS developed include communication, neuroplasticity, transformation, transmission, beauty, understanding, balance and opening. Together, they clear the path to a more fulfilling future as well as immediate reinforcing rewards.
We already have images and shapes and feelings about WHO this as-yet-unrealized being is. And, we can learn to embody that more and more without bringing egocentric or narcissistic baggage into the picture. The more this entity is congruent with our intended purpose, the better he or she will help us actualize. Passion is the measure of congruence. Your passion is what you are wholly involved in, engrossed and fulfilled by.
When embodied as self-expression, you are of one mind and one will toward specific aims. Every thought, word, action, expression, and attitude support the directed attention. We become the embodiment of our will, instilling us with even more compelling passion to drive the cycle of transformation further. States and experiences chosen become specific to your ends.
The flow of passion motivates and empowers. Congruence of beliefs, desires, thoughts, feelings and behavior adds power and energy to attention. This enhances your appreciation of beauty, increases enjoyment of life, and inflames the senses and body toward action. Automatically, this dissolves the outmoded structures of habits and reconditions us with flows of transformative attention forming new brain and behavioral pathways.
Passion flows through the body and is expressed in language. Passion with rapport is charisma; passion with trance and transport is ecstasy. Dynamic, flowing passion is the creative essence of emotion itself which drives interaction. Passion can be built with ecstatic breathing, trance dance and other rhythmic movements, as well as sensual and spiritual delights.
BENCHMARK POWER:
Realize that the psychophysical state you are in conditions your behavior and performance. You alone are always responsible for your own states. You can modify your state by modifying your physiology. You can move into your power postures, and your power voice, change your breathing and facial expression to confident mode. Get absolutely passionate, energized and enthusiastic. Practice moving from neutral to passionate states from negative ones. Focus. Eliminate "endless loop" questions from your self-talk. Ask yourself leading questions each morning. Pose empowering questions to yourself to amplify your personal power and self-esteem. Counter with compelling reasons to drive you forward.
CREATE LEVERAGE:
Something must change.
You must change it.
You can change it.
INTERVENTIONS:
The TAO models the flowing lifestyle and can be a living spring or resource for our renewal. When you are out of balance, you need to go DOWN BY RIVERSIDE to your safe place and regain your serenity by identifying with that peaceful flowing state. Imagine all your negativity flowing on down the stream back into the ocean of awareness, dissolving like drops in that ocean. Imagine all the resources from beyond the MYSTIC VEIL flowing toward and into you as you make room for them by letting go of negativity.
ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE: Interrupt you present pattern of association. Do something different with your body and mind. Imagine, anchor and embody a new empowering association until it becomes stabilized. Concentrate on what you DO want; feel it and link pleasure with it.
ELIMINATE THE NEGATIVE: Imagine a painful or distateful experience you've had. Turn that scene into a black and white image and begin shrinking it smaller and smaller until it becomes insignificant.
CONSCIOUS ALCHEMY FOR SELF-MASTERY
"Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power." (Lao-Tzu)
RETRIEVE YOUR ESSENCE AND NURTURE THE UNIVERSE;
BRING BACK THE BALANCE OF YIN AND YANG;
EMBRACE THE MATERNAL AND LET THE MATERNAL EMBRACE YOU.
LET GO OF YOUR FALSE EGO (NARCISSISM).
5 ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
INFINITE LOVE
INFINITE BEAUTY
INFINITE ONENESS

The Mystic Veil
THE MYSTIC VEIL
"Be still
And discover your center of peace.
Throughout nature
The ten thousand tings move along,
But each returns to its source.
Returning to center is peace.
Find Tao by returning to source."
(Tao 16)
MYSTIC VEIL VISUALIZATION: Come lift the Veil of Isis, the veil of Nature and your own essential nature. During meditation, you can pass from this Bizarro Universe where things are out of synch to the Perfect Peace of Infinite Oneness. But you have to cross the "gap", the Mystic Veil. Imagine yourself backing into an infinite MYSTIC VEIL, extending out from your position infintely in every direction. Begin to relax and contemplate the vast space between the actual particles of your body. This subspace, more fundamental than energy/matter is the same essence as the Cosmos.
Begin synchronizing yourself with the subtle pulsations of the Mystic Veil. Begin resonating with its cosmic rhythm. Enter your Observer Self and watch your body become smaller and smaller until - SHAZAM - you suddenly find yourself on the peaceful side of the Veil in your energy body. 99% of your body is a waveform, anyway.
While you are there imagine the 5 Essential Elements are there spinning gently like great prayer wheels you can grasp and lick for their infinite bounty. Or, you can picture connecting with the elements in any way that works for you. You are always connected to the well-spring of Being and creativity, but you can intentionally draw on them for daily renewal. Go ahead and lick them in any particular order, imaging the sensory sights, tastes and textures of this Cosmic salt lick. You can give each element any taste and texture you want.
Once you have savored the taste of each one of the elements and received its nourishment, transmit it in imagination out to the universe. Imagine it exploding into billions of golden sparks going back to infinity. Each of those elements has been incorporated into the very fabric of your mindbody - you embody that Quintessence.

YOUR ZERO POINT
ZERO POINT ENERGY: The Mystic Veil of Zero Point Energy is the subatomic threshold where Nothing becomes Something. At the center of every thing is ZPE; ZPE is a geyser of manifestation. Every part of our being is rooted in and resonates with this hyperspace field. When we consciously seek this source, we gain access to our transformative and healing energies. Each atom, molecule, cell, organ and our m ind are directly rooted in this cosmic zero. The universe is within us and this primordial foundation is the essence of our Being.
Our RESILIENCE comes from our intimate connection with the life-sustaining force of inner radiance or unconditioned life force energy. We are in the Cosmos, and the Cosmos is within each and every particle of our being.
Consciousness may be more fundamental than either energy or matter, as the Vedas claimed centuries ago. At this sensitive threshold, the MYSTIC VEIL of ZPE, miniscule changes in the situation can amplify to large differences in the outcome.
If consciousness is pure information it is not limited to physical form; its patterning may emerge from chaotic dynamics operating at the quantum level, where the "no-thing" of pure information becomes a structured "some-thing," through intentionality coupled with chaotic determinism (self-organizing emergent order).
Consciousness is information -- consciousness-in-forming -- the process of unfolding. The intensity of consciousness at any level is a function of the amount of information at that level (Battista, 1978). All of the potential information about the universe is holographically encoded in the spectrum of frequency patterns that constantly bombard us.
Through destructuring in meditation or process therapy, one quiets the brain becoming sympathetically in tune with (entrained to) this universal frequency pattern. When this occurs, the encoded information about the universe becomes holographically decoded, and the individual experiences a state of unitive consciousness with the entire universe. Naturally, this is a transformative experience.
We need to remold our healing models and practices to conform with new physics to develop a contemporary understanding of the mind/body. A new model of the human organism is emerging ~ a holistic rather than mechanistic model that theorizes our basis in the quantum world; it means healing can happen in very subtle ways, perhaps even at the quantum and subquantum level of ZPE. Self-care through consciously connecting with the unconditioned state of mind in pure awareness is a step in that direction. It is more than metaphor or analogy.
EMERGENT HEALINGEmergence is the process by which order appears spontaneously within a system. It is essential to understanding functional consciousness, the mind/body, subjective experience, self-transformation and the healing process. When many elements of a system mingle, they form patterns among themselves as they interact.
When the mind lets go of its rational order, lets the old form die, and enters into unstructured ZPE chaos, the whole person emerges with a new form, embodied as a creative expression, an intuition, or as healing. Most often it is characterized by an element of novelty and surprise, since it apparently does not originate in what came before. Both healing and medical intuition are examples of emergence. It is a spontaneous solution to a problem.

FIVE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
But we can become extraordinary by tranforming our character like carving a diamond from the rough.
We are moving toward sweeping transformation, a transhuman era, in which Bioart extends our perceptions and enhances us with Superlative State Technology available on demand.
"Be still
And discover your center of peace.
Throughout nature
The ten thousand tings move along,
But each returns to its source.
